This morning I was prompted to install windows update, so I did.  evidently this was a big one as it took between 30 and 60 minutes to install. When looking at the update history, it said this was "Windows 10 version 1709 ".  I'm currently developing an old Silverlight project (while working on converting a copy of it to wpf) and when I run the SL solution I get a message just after the browser opens:

"Unable to start debugging.  The Silverlight Developer Runtime is not installed.  The latest version can be downloaded at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=146060"

That URL downloads Silverlight_Developer.exe which is already installed and therefore it wont let me proceed with the installation.

This is really bad as the client is urgently waiting for deliverables.

Please advise on how to get past this.

Hi,

I create a new Silverlight project which works well in visual studio 2015 on my windows 10 version 1709.

Please try the following steps:

1. Uninstall everything that has name "Silverlight" from control panel
2. Install "Silverlight_5_Toolkit_December_2011.msi"
3. Install "silverlight_5_sdk.exe"
4. Install "Silverlight5_Tools_SP1.exe"
5. Install "Silverlight_Developer_x64.exe"
