I dont understand why there's no API to intercept SMS - I own a surface and now a Lumia 920. It would be great if when My phone receives an SMS( I can answer from my Surface - I'll get a notification and just respond instead of having to pull my phone out.)

Yes android phones can do this.. Microsoft we want to make the devices better but give us the API's to it.

Many banks allow online banking with confirmation codes being sent via SMS.  What is to stop an application from looking for these codes and then having them being sent to a "shady" programmer that can then use these codes to access the users bank account.  This is just one example of why there are restrictions....
