In general you shouldn't worry too much about your exact image size. Layout your visual elements so they do not have absolute dimensions; instead set them to auto fill/stretch. If you are concerned about getting absolutely the most detail in your image in all scenarios, then assume the work area is 720 x 1280 in pixel dimensions.

There is no benefit in rendering images whose pixel dimensions are larger than that. They will just consume more memory (which can be considerable after decompression).
