I have an application that uses IIS to connect to a database. Basically, there are several directories (named, lets say, S21.1, S21.2, ...), each containing a different web.config and a similar bin directory. Under IIS 5.1 & 6 I was creating a virtual directory for each of these directories (under Default Web Site) and then was able to select the one I wanted depending to what database I wanted to connect. Everything worked fine provided that the virtual directories didn't have an application name.

I tried the same in IIS 7 and, firstly, having just a virtual directory doesn't help (it doesn't work at all), so I had to convert it to application in order to work, and secondly (this is the important thing), once I create a second application, the first one didn't work anymore (only the last one works, so I cannot have several ones like in the previous versions of IIS). My question is, is there something (security, setting, something else) that prevents one from having more than one working application defined under Default Web Site ?
