I have successfully installed Visual Studio 2015 Community edition on my laptop running Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit edition with V4.0 of the .NET framework.

The 30 days for my trial licence are now up and the initial Visual Studio splash screen is telling me that the credentials for my Microsoft account need refreshing.

1. I click on "Reenter your credentials"
2. I enter my Microsoft user name and password into the pop-up titles "Sign in to your Microsoft account" and tick "Keep me signed in".
3. A pop-up window titled "Help us to protect your account" appears and asks me to approve the two-step verification request.  I tick the "I sign in frequently on this device.  Don't ask me to approve requests here" before approving the request in the Microsoft Account app on my Android phone
4. An error pop-up titled "Microsoft Visual Studio" appears saying "An error occurred trying to refresh the credentials for this account: Error: Service returned error.  Check InnerException for more details."
5. I click on the OK button (the only option that I have) and I am returned to the screen for step 1

I encounter this as well and my fix was to run a repair from control panel. That worked for me. I believe that it is a registry issue, so if you could check that before and after doing the repair.
