I have followed the advice of many tutorials on trying to deploy(Trying to test web only). Most of which say use the Web Platform installer, which I did,  and according to Beth Massi tutorial I should have this service installed but I don't.

Please for the love of holy Batman, I have never yet touched the SQL server, setup usernames or passwords for administrator, but everyone assumes this has happened in their tutorial. I opened Lightswitch and started building. VS2013 installed SQL Server 2008, so I added Management Studio, and can't even connect to anything.

If you want to deploy your apps you will need the SQLServer database either installed remote or local imho Management Studio is only what it says a tool and not the database engine itself. If LS 2013 installed sqlserver it only installed some sublayers to interact within VS Studio no more. For IIS you have to use the Webplatform installer and select the lightswitch installs the deploy manager will be installed with that by auto.
