I am curious if it is possible to assign a unique ID to each instance of a recurring event, so that I may run separate workflows for each occurrence as opposed to one workflow for all occurrences.

When you setup a recurring event you only add 1 record into the list no matter how many instances it has. This is the 'master record' and has the recurrence pattern in the RecurrenceDate field.
