I have VS 2005 and SQL Express installed. I'm trying to build an ASP.NET application but for some reason my IIS 5.1 won't startup.

According to my Services the IIS Admin is running. When I try to start IIS I get "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

When I go to the CMD prompt and do an IISRESET I get "Restart attempt failed. IIS admin service is disabled"

I also checked the World Wide Web Publishing service and tried to start that, but I get "Could not start the world wide web publishing service on local computer. Error 1717: the interface is unknown".

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling IIS, but the same results. I also searched the forums but did not see a resolution.

Check whether the following services are enabled and running

RPC

Re-installing won't help if any of these services have not been enabled.
