While using the "XML Viewer" web part in our SharePoint 2013 environment, we are facing the below error:

We have provided an XML link of an external source (as it is not hosted in our farm, although present in the same domain as that of the site collection) in the web part properties. The same is working fine in the SharePoint 2010 environment.

After searching for this issue, we found one of the MSDN links suggesting to set the farm properties "DisableIntranetCalls" and "DisableIntranetCallsFromApps" to false. It seems to have worked but we are not yet sure about its impact at the farm level. Can someone suggest the impact that these properties are going to have when they are set to false? Also, we checked that these properties are set to null in the SharePoint 2010 environment and, as stated before, the RSS feeds are being successfully displayed there. Is there something related to it that has changed in SharePoint 2013?

Hi Anmol- that did change with '13 and '16. It is a security feature, but I wouldn't be concerned with it, especially if it's on an intranet. You could also use a proxy as a workaround. See the following link for complete details:
