Okay, so my IE7 won't work at all. I mean, it won't open PERIOD. It'll open, but it ALWAYS says the page cannot be displayed. Even though my Firefox browser works absolutely fine. I need IE for some of my programs to run properly, so I can't do without it, or I would have just said screw IE completely a long time ago.
So here's what happens. I open IE, and it automatically goes to this address:

even though I have it set for http://www.google.com. and when i punch in the latter address, it tells me the same thing as always, that it can't open the page. no matter what page or address i put into that thing, it ALWAYS says that. I've reset the internet options, set it as default, taken it off of default, put everything a default, whatever, i've done everything i can think of. At first I had IE6, and it was doing this, then I installed IE7 over it, and it STILL did it. I assume this is a registry issue, which i have NO idea how to fix. Also, everytime I open IE, this process is attached to it (don't know if it means anything or not, but sometimes Spybot S&D will say that it couldn't change this process when i open IE: ctfmon.exe and apparently it's a "CTF loader".
It can't be the Hosts.txt file, b/c then FF wouldn't work either, but I am almost absolutely definite that it's got to be the registry. Some other issues have insued:
I have about 50 updates that simply WILL NOT update, at all. i'll list these at the end.
I am missing several basic programs, like mspain, and calculator, and i'm guessing maybe some others that i just haven't wanted to use lately.
i want to just completely remove IE and everything and anything that anything to do with it (or at least detatch it safely) and then reinstall a new IE over it so it gives new registry accounts.
