Hi, our help desk of seven team members need a more organized way of covering Inbox shifts for those about to go on vacation (or PTO). Currently, we use emails, which gets very clumsy and confusing, since not all who respond include the most recent email, and those who want to have to read through multiple emails to see who may have already taken a time slot they want. So, we need some kind of tool (SharePoint list) that allows team members to sign up for time slots in an organized fashion and minimize overlap.

Anyway, something along those lines. Does anyone know how we could do this with a SharePoint list? Thing is, this occurs multiple times per year since we all have a fair amount of PTO to use.  We do presently have an Inbox calendar showing our regular Inbox coverage periods over the five day work week. So, I had thought of just having team members change the name on a time period to their own. Unfortunately, our managers want to limit updates to the calendar to managers only. So, if we used the current Inbox calendar we would need to provide a way for team members to select a time period to change (put their name on) that would send an alert to a manager for approval. But, that would make it very difficult for the team as a whole to see what times are taken and what times are still open. Any thoughts?
