I would like to know if its possible to replace the native sharepoint database.

I have a sql server and a database within that i would like to set up as a backend for sharepoint so that when some one creates a list, i can access the information in tableau through sql server.

Due to few org restrictions i can connect tableau to only sql server and not the native built in database.
