 I have a SSAS tabular on-premise and want to migrate it to azure SSAS.

  d) How and in which scenario we need to create gateway.

The only tool you need is Visual Studio ;-)

Azure AS (PaaS) is nearly identical with SSAS on-prem for tabular models. All you need to do is point your Visual Studio project at the Azure AS instance and deploy. If your model feeds from an on-prem database, you'll need to configure a gateway so that the Azure AS model can reach that data source during processing.

  Nope. If you want to run Multidimensional in Azure, you will need to provision an Azure VM w/ SSAS MD installed (IaaS).

  haven't tried XMLA, but you can script out an existing (on-prem) model and execute the TMSL against the Azure AS instance via SSMS.
  
• re: Gateway
  If the data source (or one of the data sources) for your tabular model is an on-prem db, you will need to use a gateway so that the Azure AS model can reach it during processing.
