We have been trying to work out what is the best practices for patching physical hosts that are protected by on site MABS?

We need basically a nice way to stop all jobs (ideally promptly...) once a month to install patches, followed by reboots without corrupting backups or requiring consistency checks. We can't have jobs start up again till we are ready to move on given updates can take a while to install.

You can just patch as normal. If you have jobs running when a reboot is needed, you will want to cancel those, or reboot later.
