Hi there

Sometimes our SharePoint has this issue that some tasks get stuck when they users try to approve. It keeps showing "Please wait while your task is updated... " as per screenshot.

According to your description, this issue occurs randomly. Please close all programs/progresses that you do not use, and compare the results. Try approving the tasks in another machine to see if the issue can ne reproduced.

Meanwhile, check the ULS log once the issue displays to see if there are more specific message for this issue, or you can use the Fiddler to trace the process.
