I met the same "An error occurred uploading to the iTunes Store" issue, and it took me a WHOLE NIGHT!

Here comes the way to solve it:

cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions
sudo ln -s CurrentJDK /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5
sudo ln -s CurrentJDK /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0
