I have a web project that I need to create a new report for. When I go to add new item and choose Report wizard the initial window pops up and I enter the name of the rdlc report. But when I click "ADD" the window disappears and then nothing happens. I would expect the wizard to start. Is something missing?

FYI - I opened a windows form project and it worked fine. So it appears to be something related to it being a web project.

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

Unfortunately, I cannot repro you issue in my side. Please check the following snapshot that confirm I have no any misunderstanding here.

Please go through with the following steps to troubleshooting it:

1. Go to tool - extension and update – uninstall "RDLC Reprot Designer" – close all instances and VS itself – open VS installer to repair VS – reopen VS – reinstall this extension.
2. Disable anti-virus
3. Check if install other extension or third party recently prior to the issue? Use command line devenv.exe /safemode that prevents all third-party VS Packages from loading when Visual Studio starts, thus ensuring stable execution.
4. Perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts. Follow these steps given in the link below to start the computer in clean boot.
5. Reboot and update VS to latest version to test.
