I, along with many others, have a valid email address that contains an apostrophe.  Many companies base email addresses on employee name [[e-mail]] and there are a lot of people out there with apostrophes in their last names (I am one of them). These email addresses are perfectly valid, yet MSDN accounts cannot be created using these addresses and Office 365 cannot be activated using them. I had to use my personal email address for my MSDN subscription even though it was paid for by my employer and I am not able to upgrade to Office 365 at work because I cannot activate it using my work email address. MSDN should accept ALL valid email addresses... why is this not so and can it please be fixed?

That is a really good question Stacyirish.  I'm not sure why this distinction exists.  I was just able to create a user on my test office 365 developer subscription with the login of mikeo'kinsman and was able to create a volume license msdn subscription with an apostrophe in the email address.   However, i wasn't able to create a microsoft account with one.  This may be what you're running into.
