When my VS 2015 Community edit failed to load I uninstalled, re-installed and repaired it from the win 10 settings->control panel->apps & features. The new install didn't allow me to create websites (though the original default did), with an error indicating that I should modify the install and select the 'web dev tools', which worked successfully.

I can now create an empty website and new web pages but the web form split option isn't selectable and the design option causes the page editing to hang. The source option works until the design option is selected.
