If using SharePoint Designer to look at the default and created workflows for any site collection (and subsites) will the result in SPD list ALL of the workflows for the sites, or will it show ONLY those workflows that were created in SPD?

When you use SharePoint Designer, you are opening a site URL, just one, and obviously you will see all workflows for just that site. 

Out of the box, there is nothing that can show you all workflows in one shot. However you can use PowerShell to see this.
