Practice, practice, practice.

There is no easy way to get a job based on some technology. You need to research the companies in your locality that are recruiting people, and find out what their requirements are, and then work to meeting those requirements. In the same way you would do it for any chosen career path.

Why do you think that you can have more luck if you shift you focus into another technology? Finding a job is generally a difficult problem these days (well, it highly depends on country, industry, etc., but it is difficult in general and on average).

So, in addition to sufficient professionalism (which is apparent), what could be advised in terms of selection of technology? You need to learn in depth some variety of technologies, not just one.

Also, look for a well-rounded set of technologies and techniques you can use. What do I mean by that? Here is one approach, may be not for everyone, but it would be the best if you can follow it. Try to define some class of possible projects you could potentially design and implement all by yourself, without anyone''s help. If a class of such projects is wide enough, includes some practically valuable kinds of projects and you are confident enough that you can complete any of them, your expectations of your employment rate will be much better. I does not matter how much time you may need to complete a project, but confidence, the feeling of fulfillment and accomplishment is most important; one most critical skill is the ability to really complete project, instead of "improving" it forever. The more of these skills you have, the better your confidence on a job market. In this case, you could more easily switch from one role to another and consider more job opportunities. Also it''s very important that your potential employer will consider your candidacy as presenting less risk for them as they can rely on your help where it is needed the most.

You also should understand that the modern technologies like .NET are so big that it''s virtually impossible for one person to know all about it. So, it''s more important to get a solid background of fundamental knowledge and ability to apply it to use of new technologies. Actually, learning too much of available technologies is also pointless — they may change faster then you can learn them. This is another argument in favor of the approach based on valuable project set.

Focus on fundamental knowledge, ability to apply it to practical projects and project completion skills.

If you have only the skill set for one or two prospective roles, your potential employer will consider you as a risky investment. At least you should demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies actively and fast enough.
