Hi all

I am about to go mental on this side. All I want to do is to have a form where the user can enter/edit/delete a new/exisiting record and use Access''s built in record navigation at the bottom of the form.

Now for some reason I can do this when basing a form on one table , but not when it is based on multiple tables. ( I have all tables linked from a AS400 to Access)

Now this seems like a rather simple thing to do through Access, but I have been stuck on this for weeks now.

Has anyone had the same problem before/know why it is behaving like this?

At a guess I would say the query behind your table is not updateable. Try running the query on its own and see if you can add or edit any data.

Thank you for the reply. Well I did as you asked and yes I can edit the data straight through the query and I also get the navigation pane at the bottom of the query window, so I am able to scroll records ,add new ones and it also shows me the record count.

But the minute I bind a form to this query, I cannot update records,scroll records and the new record button is greyed out.

Correction

When creating a query onlocal tables, I am able to do what I descrobed above.

When creating a query on linked tables, I get the problem where I cannot change,add,scroll records.
