don''t know what "references" you tried, but I found it at the W3C''s
list of entities,

Note that this is an ISO-8859-1 character.
(Somebody suggested a degree mark. That''s too small, at least in the
first font I checked; and I think it may be at the wrong height
above the baseline too.)
