I have a form that was created in Access 2003 that has lost function in 2013. The form allows for new records to be added by hitting the new record button on the navigation bar at the bottom of the form. The botton is greyed out. I have looked at the properties of the form and everything appears to be correctly checked. Is there a simple fix that I may be overlooking. Thanks

You might have already done this; however, this is where I would start given the information provided if this were my application... so if you would, one more time :) , check the following:

Open the form in design view.
<alt><enter> (or any other method) to show the properties sheet

+ Make sure "Form" is shown in the properties sheet dropdown list.
+ [Event] tab, check {On Load}, {On Open} events for any code that would set the (enabled) property of the control from true to false.
((Off chance... check the {On Current} event too... ))

++ In the properties dropdown list, select the control name.
++ [Data] tab, check that {Enabled} property is set to "yes"

Thanks for the information but this was not the solution. There was no identified code to force false in any of the suggested location. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

What code are you calling to open the form?

The form has an AllowAddions property as well as a RecordsetType. These must both be set consistently with adding records (Snapshot disables additions as does the use of a RecordSource that is non-updatable.)

A further problem can be when opening the form though. If the DataMode parameter is used this can override the settings of the form.
