hello, i still cannot network my new vista cpu with my other xp computer in my house. on Network Connection on vista the "View Map" it sees both computers but its not hooking them up, can anyone please help me. I even dled a new LLTD on the XP, and network discovery is on the vista. My XP has internet but cant seem the network to wrok, anyone have some ideas please?

Get a router, plug both computers in.
Make sure they are on the same workgroup and run the files and printers sharing wizard on both. You should be good to go.

Share the folders you want and make sure you know the names of the computers for communication.

After above has been done, test your configuration.

Example:
XP machine name: xppc
Vista machine name: vistapc

now if you want to access the xppc from vista hit Windows Key + R this will open a window in the left hand side bottom, type in //xppc and hit ok you should be able to see the folders and printers that you shared.

I already have a router and it use to work fine on my old XP and other XP...my ISP provider said connection is good and they couldnt figure out vista''s uncompatibility issue. I tried the run //xppc and it said it didnt find anything, ive been reading up on this forever and everyone seems to have same problem but no real solution. an unidentified network..when i hit "view full map" under private it shows my vista name, (red)-pc with green line going down to the other cpu name, Chrome..and another pic of what looks like a router but no green line connected to it. I disabled firewalls and done everything i can think of. Any other solutions you can think of cyber or anyone else?
