hi! I am working as a Network Admin in a well reputed company in dubai. A few days before my boss gave me an swf file to make changes. This swf file contains the Company Information in menus and buttons form. Actually this is not my field but I will have to do it because of the boss and a plus point in my career. I know about the Flash very well and my user level is Intermediate in it.
Now coming to the point, I used Sothink SWF Decompiler to decompile the file and exported an FLA file of it. So whenever i open that fla file in Flash CS3 and test the movie by pressing Ctrl+Enter, the behaviour of that movie totally changes. For Example when i click the Menu button "Our Company" and then i click the sub-menu button in it "Company History" then it shows me some another sub-menu''s information such as "Aims and Objectives".So anywhere in the file when i click the "Aims and Objectives" information will come only.
Please find me the solution as soon as possible. If i should use any other good decompiler or making some option changes in Sothink Decompiler OR if I can make changes in fla file.

How come your boss didn''t manage to get you the FLA??
The decompilers are just to check things and stuff, but not to really use the decompiled fla. When it decompiles the swf, the code is all obfuscated and a lot of things are changed and malfunctioning. So ask your boss if he can get you the fla, or start the site from scratch, because I don''t know any good decompiler, and Sothink SWF Decompiler is supposed to be the best...

Hi The_Nephilim,
The flash file could have been deleted accidently by some lazy developer who must be under the influence of alcohol or maybe angry that he didn''t get the hike. Jokes apart, I faced the same in on of my projects and we were expected to get things working using decompiled SWFs.
The code doesn''t get obfuscated if all the objects are converted to symbols.This was a solution that I figured out accidently just because I hate to see objects floating on the stage without any identity. I converted all of them to symbols (movie clips wherever required) and everything functioned as expected. And yup we used Sothink SWF Decompiler too.
Now its possible that it might or might not work for Peeaurjee. However its worth giving a try rather than starting from scratch, which might not work in favour of his expected booming career :)
