As far as Google specifically is concerned, submitting your site via their
"Add URL" form actually does very little. If some other site that is
already in Google has a link to your site, the "Googlebot" will find you
sooner or later without your intervention. If you don''t have any such
incoming links, then Google will not list you no matter how many times you
submit your URL. (Actually, your site might appear in the index for a few
days, but it will disappear quickly.)
