Hello guys,
I am a pcb design engineer. I would like to build my own printed circuit board

engineering design tool. I have designed the menu bar etc...by using Visual studio .net

but I don't have any basic idea to create my design area and others such as Create

component, routing traces, etc..If possible Please help to guide me to create my own eda

tool

What I have tried:

I have built my Engineering tool in Visual studio .net (Menu bar, Status bar, etc..)

But Iam not able to build designing areas like foot print creation, routing signals,

power plane segmentation etc..If anybody has any ideas, Please suggest to go ahead

I'd recommend that you start by looking at a couple of things: the format(s) you can read footprints in from public sources (such as component manufacturers), and the output formats you need to to able to produce (gerber is a must, but DXF is handy as well) and how you can make your software produce them quickly and easily. Then consider your input format(s) and what you need to do to interface with your selected circuit diagram app(s).

Footprint creation is the least of your problems (though they are needed for special cases), routing algorithms are complex but google can help you there: pcb auto routing algorithms - Google Search[^]

Get that lot sorted, and then think about implementation details which will be fairly trivial in comparison.
