Partly because it's your homework and if we "just give you the code" you won't learn anything so your next task will be even harder, and partly because we have no idea what you tutor is looking for! :laugh:

So it's going to be up to you. Start at the beginning. Look closely at the homework assignment, and think about exactly what it's asking you to do. I'm pretty sure it goes into a lot more detail than "A students daily attendance comprising of 6 periods per day." because in isolation that means absolutely nothing.
When you have worked out what your tutor wants you to do, start thinking about how you would do it manually. Get a pen and paper and do it. Make sure that it works. Then start to think about it as far as a computer is concerned, and break the job down into smaller chunks.
Can you do the first chunk? No? OK, break that into smaller pieces and try again. Keep on making smaller tasks until you get to ones you can do. You will find that doing the smaller tasks means you do the bigger ones that are made up of them! And pretty soon, you find the "top level" biggest task is pretty much complete as well.

Give it a try: it's probably a lot easier than it sounds.
