I've just 'started using' (i.e. pecking around at keys in an attempt to match the tutorials) Android Studio. It seems like a great IDE to me, but I've been using only VS for over fifteen years.

I'm looking for a good beginners to intermediate ebook that takes the novice from just beyond a single-activity "Hello world" and guides them forward with creating various views, services, and activitries and coordinating then to produce a working app.

Just BTW, I have as a first goal a one or two screen app than scans a QR code using the recommended ZXing library, then shows the user confirmation of the QR contents, and then sends that data to a web service. Sounds very easy, no? Not quite where I'm coming from.
