Hello,

is there any possibility to extract data from dxf file ? I would like to build costing program for CNC plasma cutting machine depending on total cut length and number of starts. I would like to drag and drop dxf file into form and recieve:

- count of starts
- total length
- area of part
- width of part
- height of part etc

Any advice how to decode/ extract dxf file ?

DXF file is simply text, so reading it should not be a problem. Understanding it may be more difficult as stated in first link.

When I do the same, I rather read the DSTV files generated by the CAD program to feed the CNC, much easier.

So my advice is use the DSTV files if you can get them, which is likely if the CAD program hook the CNC machines.
