i have been asked to write a stemma(family tree) program using binary tree and i am confused to how to do that so can any body help me.

We do not do your homework: it is set for a reason. It is there so that you think about what you have been told, and try to understand it. It is also there so that your tutor can identify areas where you are weak, and focus more attention on remedial action.
Try it yourself, you may find it is not as difficult as you think!

This isn't a difficult problem, but it teaches you a lot about pointers and how they work. And if you don't understand this stuff, then the rest of C++ is going to make absolutely no sense whatsoever - so it is very important that you do this, or at least try really, really hard to work out what to do - it really is the only way you will learn this very basic technique.
