AS a beginner, it's going to be difficult: to get a job (which is the kind of experience you really want) you pretty much need to have the experience already.

If you haven't already, sign up for a course which gives you a good qualification: it should give you a "minimum set" of skills which means you stand a chance of getting the interview. As a self-taught developer with no experience, the options are very limited. Look at job ads, and see what they expect - if you don't know what employers want, then you can't go and get it!

Try coding some projects: a damn good website, a MP3 library and player, things which demonstrate knowledge of UI and databases, and write them properly: don't just throw them together. Remember that a potential employer may want to see them (and the code behind them) in lieu of the experience you can't show them!
