Here is how I shared an asset with another user.
Once I found the item I wanted, I pinned the item.
Then I went back to the home screen.
I found the item under the Pinned Assets , (also saw it under Recent Assets).
Clicking on that link brought me back to the item, and in the top left I saw something like "id=queries/1f202...."
I sent this "id=queries/..." to my colleague and told him to paste it into the "Search Data Catalog" in the home screen.
Using this brought him to view the same item I had pinned.
