I Have a SharePoint Farm, in one of the Web Applications the Search functionality is not working properly sometimes it shows an internal server error with a correlation ID. On going through the logs it says: Internal server error exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

You can check the following points to troubleshoot your issue:

1.转到开始 - >运行 - > services.msc->确保"SharePoint计时器服务"，"SharePoint搜索主机控制器"和"SharePoint服务器搜索服务"正在运行。 并确保服务帐户的护照未过期/更改
以停止服务。

1. Go to Start->Run->services.msc->make sure the "SharePoint timer service", "SharePoint Search host controller" and "SharePoint server search service" are running. And make sure the passport of the service account is not expired/changed to make the service stopped.

2.转到管理中心 - >系统设置 - >管理服务 - > ;确保已启动"SharePoint Server搜索"和"搜索查询和网站设置服务"。

2. Go to Central Administration->System settings->Manage services->make sure "SharePoint Server Search" and "Search Query and Site Settings Service" are started.
