Is there an option to save the state of collapsed sections of code? They all expand every time I reopen the solution.

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

What is your VS version and how did you reproduce this issue?

I tried to test it in VS 2017/2019 with C#/VB console projects and the collapsed state can be save when I try to close/open or restart VS to open this solution.

Please have a try with the following to troubleshoot this issue:

1. go to Tools-Import and Export settings-reset all settings, back up the current setting and choose ‘General’ to restore the setting to the default one to have a try
2. Repair VS, run the VS installer or go to Control Panel-Programs and Features, right click the VS and Change-Repair
