We have just provided a new SQL instance, for a new instacne of Skype for business.

As part of the Skype for business setup, the required databases all get created - but they are all in SIMPLE recovery.

Is there any reason why this should not be FULL recovery ? (Our old Lync instance had all databases as FULL recovery).

Recovery models are designed to control transaction log maintenance. A recovery model is a database property that controls how transactions are logged, whether the transaction log requires (and allows) backing up, and what kinds of restore operations are available. And you can switch to another recovery model at any time.

With the Simple Recovery Model, the database will automatically reclaims log space to keep space requirements small. So the only reason I can think of is eliminating the need to manage the transaction log space. 

But I would like to use Full Recovery Model, because no work is lost due to a lost or damaged data file. And we can recover to an arbitrary point in time.
