i wanted to check performance of Azure SQL database. As per my knowledge we need to check CPU, DTU,DataIO, fragmentation of indexes and waittypes . Could you please let us know if any other metrics i need to check.

Hi Raghu,

When debugging Azure SQL, DMVs are essential to get decent information.  A great breakdown of some of these, with examples can be found here: 

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/sql-database/sql-database-monitoring-with-dmvs

I would also familiarise yourself with Query Store (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/performance/monitoring-performance-by-using-the-query-store?view=sql-server-2017) as that can give invaluable information around performance.
