most systems have a document that enable users to tell the exact quantity of items they have(physical quantity in warehouses). It might be called "physical inventory", stock opening, stock reconciliation or else. Users then purchase and sell goods. Thus increasing or decreasing the physical count or items in the warehouses. If I want to answer the question of "How many of some item is there in the warehouse". Would I calculate it this way, (quantity of the item in the last document(i.e physical inventory) the user created ) + (quantity purchased - quantity sold) after the document is created. Am I getting it right? Is this the way it's implemented?
