I'm currently trying to restore a 2016 DB into 2008, but it seems there are compatibility issues with this process using the normal backup restore method.
I've also tried to 'generate scripts' to get around this, however there seems to be at least 1 SP which is encrypted, and therefore the scripts will not generate.

Are there any ways around this? I am a sysadmin but it seems I can't view the SP data.

Unfortunately I don't have the option to create a 2016 environment to complete the restore, which would be the simple option.
