Hi,

I have an Azure VM E8s_v3.  Microsoft's documentation states that it uses the Intel XEON ® E5-2673 v4 (Broadwell) processor which is a 20 core processor.  The VM however reports in system information that the processor is only 4 core, with 8 logical processor.  CMD reports the same.  I get the logical processors piece, however i'm now in a position of having a production box running per core licensed software solution at half capacity.  Is there a way to get the 8 cores I need on my VM, or do I have to scale my VM from offering to offering until I find one that fits?

The Processor itself might have that capability however you are only allocated cores based on the size of the VM you pick.

So E8 has 8vCPUs

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/sizes-memory#esv3-series

Then, if you look at this doc

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/acu

You can see how each vCPU correlates to one core based on the size. E3 sizes are 2:1

So for every 2 vCPU equates to 1 core

So to get 8 cores, you would need a size that has 16 vCPU
