Hello,

I'll be starting on my Azure Admin course soon (AZ 100) and see I can get 12 months access free from Microsoft, what happens after 12 months?  Do I need to put my credit card details in?

You need to provide credit card info when you sign up for the 12-month free trial.

As per https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/free-account-faq/?v=18.45 :

At the end of your first 30 days, you can continue using your free products after you upgrade your account to a pay-as-you-go Azure subscription and remove the spending limit.  If you stay within the service quantities included for free, you won’t have to pay anything.

For 12 months after you upgrade your subscription, certain amounts of popular products such as compute, networking, storage, and databases are free. After 12 months, any of these products you may be using will continue to run, and you’ll be billed at the standard pay-as-you-go rates.

In short, after 12 months you can continue using your subscription without paying for services as long as they are included in the list of free products (labeled "always free" in the table at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/free-account-faq/?v=18.45 ). Otherwise, you will be billed for resource usage according to the PAYG billing rate.
