An attempt to add a custom domain name I own "technology.museum" fails. It also fails via the Office 365 Admin portal.

Longer term, I would like to use the technology.museum domain with Azure Active Directory Domain Services. The .com domain that is used for our email (museumoftechnology) is over 15 characters long which is too long! Ideally, I would like users to authenticate with their email credentials but use the .museum domain for DNS. Is that feasible?

Thank you for your post , I reviewed the thread and found that we have an open issue as per your report internally and the product engineering team is looking into it . As .meuseum domain is a sponsored domain governed by special policies , it has been listed in our internal systems as a reserved domain to prevent any kind misuse . We have internally put in a request with engineering to get technology.museum out of the reserved domain list so that you could use this domain for email purposes with Office365 . It may be possible that we may need to contact you for some clarification as its a special domain . Please stay tuned and we will keep this thread updated. We hope to get further response on this by tuesday next week. I will keep you updated. In case you do not receive any response from our side on this thread, feel free to mail me on azcommunity[at] Microsoft [dot] com referencing this thread and one of my team members in my absence would take this up and follow up with PG internally to get you an update.
