I will preface this by stating I am not a SharePoint guy. I am working with a customer however, that has a SP2010 environment up with sites for each team in IT. One of the pages currently is their "Master Server List", a quick list that shows all servers in the environment, both physical and virtual. If I look on the network to the path where the list resides, I see a number of .aspx files. The "SharePoint guy" tells me these point back to a database "somewhere".

What I am working on for this customer is building two scripts; one for building new servers and another for decommissioning servers. In both cases, I would like to include updating the SP list appropriately (a very tedious, error-prone, manual process today). The SharePoint guy tells me this is not possible as it stands today. So my next thought was to put the information into either a CSV or Excel (which would be perfect, as eventually I just want it to be a nightly pull from A.D.) and have the SP list present that. I am being told that this would take a number of hours of custom code, and the manager of that team is not willing to approve that kind of effort.
