I have a database where all fields are defined as character in Oracle and are either left or right padded with spaces.   I would like to convert this data to SQL and have the fields automatically trimmed.    I have defined the data types to convert to varchar in SQL.  However, the spaces are migrated with the data.   Does anyone know how to automatically trim spaces during data migration?

This does not seem to work, the data content cannot be modified during the data migration process.
