In conversation with some of your staff I was indicated that Cosmos DB RU is the same if we submit either READ, Update, Create or Search operation. In online documentation I could not either confirm if this statement is correct. But one of your online calculator is stating :

Request units measure Azure Cosmos DB throughput per second, and request unit consumption varies by operation and JSON document.

RU throughput is the measure of volume and rate applied to a specific database or collection. Each operation does in fact have different RU values for volume. Rate is something that is controlled by the client. The following document explains this in greater detail.
