Hello,

I am fairly new using Infopath and I have been attempting to create a cascading dropdown list. It appears to be functioning correctly when I select the parent dropdown selection, it narrows down the child dropdown to the correct choices. The problem occurs when I select an option in the dropdown, it automatically resets to the bottom filtered list value. Why is this occurring? I followed this guide and I see a comment at the bottom that someone was having a similar problem.

When I click the child dropdown I get the 3 choices:

According to your description of the symptom, it appears to me that the root cause will be a setting error in the dropdown list properties. I manage to reproduce your issue, and have fixed it.

I make two test lists, and create the cascading dropdown list in the InfoPath. The main issue is the value field in the properties of the child dropdown list. If set it to room, I will have the same issue with you. And change it to ID, everything works perfect.

I hope this solution can help.  If it does not work, a screenshot of detailed setting will be great help for us to troubleshoot.
