Is there a way to move AAD Connect database to different SQL database, with different SQL server name?

Currently our AADC is connected to SQL (full version) that sits on old hardware. We would like to use a new SQL server in different host, but it has different server name. I read that there is an unsupported method, which is by editing AADC registry key. I would like to avoid this method. P2V or build a SQL with same name are not our options too.

I also found that I could reinstall a new AADC. But I am worried about its impact and it could break existing synchronization.
