I have a business accounting and finances app installed in a Windows 10 Pro Virtual Machine.

This app needs certain permissions to get and update data from an FTP server online and log it into it's native database running on the Virtual Machine.

I am having trouble to find the procedure that explains how to grant access to the app to get the data through the network and into the FTP server where the data is located.

From the Azure side, you will need to make sure that your NSGs allow traffic from the server to the VM, on whatever ports are needed by the application.

You also might need to allow the traffic through the windows firewall, along with any on-premise network firewalls.

once the traffic is allowed, the rest of the configuration is up to the application, and you might need to speak with your application vendor for proper instructions. FTP servers frequently use windows authorizaiton, so you might need to give the app a valid username and password for the VM. This can be the administrator account that you use to log into the VM, or a new account that you set up on the VM and give proper permissions.
