My organisation has implemented MFA and this applies to both external and internal network users.

We have recently moved our intranet from Sharepoint onprem to Sharepoint online. However a downside of this is that by switching the default homepage in IE we will force everyone through MFA everytime they open IE, even if they didn't plan to look at the intranet.

Removing MFA from internal network users is not an option as it is in place partly to clamp down on people sharing passwords and access which was a particular problem.

Unfortunately you cannot set Multi Factor Authentication per site or site collection - only on the tenant or the Microsoft account itself.
